Pub 39 – The Lighthouse (Dun Laoghaire)
Pub 39 is The Lighthouse Dun Laoghaire! You can find it on lower George’s street.
We had a couple of stop-offs in here. Drink wise, the Guinness was alright and those on the beer were happy enough. Grub wise there is an emphasis on using local, organic and sustainable food. Our experience getting the actual grub into our beaks was a tad hit and miss.
First time in, we had no complaints. It was a grand feed. The burgers were top notch. Second time it was an ice cold Irish breakfast. We were waiting ages on it, asked the staff and a while later they dropped it up. Not sure what happened there, I think they may have forgotten about it.
Entertainment wise there’s a quiz and bingo at the weekends while upstairs in the Top Deck room there are regular bands and dj nights. Plenty happening here. Another great thing about this spot is they show F1. So if a bit of racing is your thing you are laughing. They show all the races with split screen action, themed quizzes around the bigger races and they also offer food and drink packages.
If you like games The Lighthouse have you covered. There’s a Games Room upstairs where they have ping pong, pool, arcade games & board games.
Another nice feature is The Eatyard Shop at the front selling wine, craft beers and some grub.
Overall the Lighthouse is a solid spot and a cool looking venue. If you are looking for a pub to watch F1, fancy a decent burger, a cold brekky 🙂 or just something a little different in Dun Laoghaire…The Lighthouse might be a good shout.
The verdict on best pint and best pub in Dun Laoghaire is still to come.
The Lighthouse is a great place. Nice vibe. I went to college in Dún Laoghaire, if its Guinness you are after I would go to O’Loghlins if you havent been.
