Pub 5 – Slattery’s (Dublin City)
Pub #5 is Slattery’s (Visited February 2022)
Friday is upon us & we are back on the pub trail (just the one day off)
There has been a license here since 1821. The pub became a regular for some of Ireland’s greatest artists who both performed and drank here. It’s a nice spot, I’ve been here a fair few times. There is usually a mix of locals & tourists getting stuck into some crispy pints. There is plenty of seating and high table areas as you walk in as well as another section upstairs. There’s a decent food menu, the all day breakfast is tasty. The stew is sensational.
Slattery’s is one of the few remaining early houses. It used to open at 7 as far as I can remember. It now opens at 9.00am Monday to Saturday and 12.30pm Sunday. Food is served from 9am until 10pm Monday to Saturday and 12.30pm to 10pm on Sundays.
Drinks wise, there’s a cracking whiskey menu available and they do a cracking Irish Coffee. On the Guinness front, they are usually pretty bang on here.
The Guinness on the day wasn’t their greatest. It’s usually better so no stick being dished out. We all have bad days.
Slattery’s Capel Street is a great spot for an early pint and Irish breakfast.
