Pub 6 – O’Connell’s (Dublin City)
Pub #6 is O’Connell’s (Visited February 2022)
Pub #6 on our journey around every pub in Ireland is O’Connell’s on Bachelor’s Walk.
We enjoyed our stop off here. Pints were good, solid food menu (Beef and Guinness casserole) Service was great and they stuck the darts on for us. They also throw on a bit of karaoke if you fancy flexing those vocal chords.
A bit of history around the area the building resides, O’Connells is on Bachelors Walk. Back in 1914 a group of nationalist protesters marched on Bachelors Walk and were met by Major Alfred Haig and his men. Three men were murdered and during a time of struggle for Irish independence this came to be known as “The Bachelors Walk Massacre”. A young boy by the name of Luke Kelly was wounded in that massacre and his son, also named Luke, was a member of the famous Irish band The Dubliners (Link to O’Connell’s website below)
As I mentioned above, the pints were solid. One of us was on the Guinness and the other was on the Corrs, the stout was creamy and the beer crispy. O’Connells Pub is a comfy spot definitely worth a visit
