Pub #31 is The Ashbourne House Hotel Ashbourne Co. Meath (Visited March 2022)
We are on the Ashbourne leg of our tour around every fine drinking establishment on this beautiful island.
Our third stop in Ashbourne is the Ashbourne House Hotel. The side entrance brings you to the lounge area and there is also a centre entrance into Ned Smyth’s Bar.
They do a nice bit of grub in here and lash out some decent enough pints. The consistency on the pints is a tad erratic as you will see from the pics.
Guinness and different beers are usually the order of the day but we don’t mind an occasional Islands Edge. On a follow up visit to the pub we ordered a pint of it. Check it out there below. Scaldy is an understatement. I didn’t hand it straight back because I wanted to show the lads how beautiful it was 🙂 I ordered a second and that was ok. On our first visit, it was Guinness for me and a bit of everything for the pints crew member I was with. Check out the green concoction. Known in Glasgow as a venom. The barman couldn’t make out what my mate was saying but as soon as he copped the word venom he was straight on it. Top stuff.
The Guinness has been solid enough on any of my visits. We have been here a couple of times and each time the staff have been bang on barring the goatee guy who let that absolute scald bag of a pint go out over the bar. Overall though the Guinness is good and the cocktails & concoctions one of the We Love Pints crew was sinking went down well.
Around the pub itself, there are plenty of tvs on the go with racing and football on. There are always plenty of people floating about between hotel guests and pint heads. Each time we have been in there has been a good mix of locals, people in after work and hotel-staying punters.
If you are staying in the area The Ashbourne House Hotel is a 3 star hotel with a decent pub and a nice bit of grub to go with it.

What the fuck is that in the Islands Edge glass??? Barman should never serve again hahahaha!! Guinness doesn’t look too bad in all fairness. Good stuff lads keep em comin
