As of March 2023 the pint rating has been discontinued. To be fair it was just a tongue-in-cheek little added extra to each post we put up here or on Instagram. We always went out of our way to give give at least a decent rating. We are not pint snobs. We just love pubs & pints.
Starting this thing a year ago was and always will be about loving Irish pubs and pints. The plan was and still is, to get around every pub. Celebrate these fine establishments and neck a serious amount of pints. Anybody that follows our Instagram or visits here regularly will know, we don’t take ourselves seriously and we are not another “review site”. We’ll leave that to those that are good at breaking down a pint. We are a collector of pubs not a rater of pints. We are hitting pubs and giving you and ourselves a look inside and a bit of insight into each spot we hit.
We will still give an aul Beir Bua to our favourite pubs and the Golden Pint to the best of the best pints necked.

We aren’t out to chase and slate bad pints or slag any of these fine establishments off. We f*cking love pubs and pints. As we all know from experience you could get a heap of cracking pints in somewhere every week and still get the odd stinker. So rating systems can sometimes be a little hard to nail down.
That said if we ever get something that’s pure gick we usually grab at least another one in case it was end of the barrel jazz. End of barrel/freak one off rotters aside, If the pints are just not quite up there with others they will find themselves down in the bottom half of our rating chart above. There’s no fool proof way of rating drinks so we have tried to keep it simple enough. If it’s good it’s solid, if it’s bad it’s dishwater. Greatness is defined by a Golden Pint award.
